Bansko is probably the most famous winter resort in Bulgaria hosting various winter sports events. In the recent years the outskirts of Razlog known as Betolovoto , only a few kilometers away from Bansko, also devoloped as a winter resort with its luxurious apart hotels and the famous complex Pirin Golf Club. In the summer the visitors and tourists can enjoy the golf course or mountain hiking and visit the beautiful and clean glacier lakes of Pirin mountain. Near Razlog is the village of Bania famous for its hot springs.
Razlog and Bansko are situated in a valley between the three majestic mountains – Rila, Pirin and Rodopi. Nearby is a large part of the National Parks “Rila” and “Pirin”. The second is the object of world natural and cultural heritage of UNESCO since 1983. On the territory of “Pirin” park is the natural reserve “Bayuvi dupki – Djindjiritsa”, the largest habitats of the Alpine Edelweiss in Europe. More than half of the total area of the national Park “Pirin” is occupied by pine forest, mainly white and black fir. The average age of these trees is around 150 years old, but the age of two of them is a 1000 years.
The Razlog valley is the highest in South Bulgaria with about 900 meters above sea level. Its climate is subcontinental with mild Mediterranean influence with clearly defined four seasons. The average annual temperature is +9.5 ° C.
